The Travelers

Nick & Jess

Early on into our 10 years of traveling together, we opted into one bag travel, meaning only one normal sized backpack each, to try and unburden ourselves while traveling.

Our trips are centered around finding amazing and ethical animal experiences, exploring the local food scene, and diving into the history of how a city becomes a city. We only write about our own experiences, both the good and the regrettable, and will never include AI-written information.

We hope that PackedLightly will help you to make the most of your time off and carry less stress during your travels.

Bird Watching & Night Hikes in the Cloud Forests of Mindo

"5 AM wake-up calls aren't so bad when dozens of hummingbirds are feeding right outside your room. Their rapid buzzing and fluttering kept us entertained every morning, while enjoying breakfast."
"Headlamps, rain boots, and mosquito spray are needed for night trekking through the forest in search of spiders, snakes, and kinkajous. We were lucky enough to spot 3 of the latter scurrying through the trees, with reflective eyes shining right back."
"An early morning bird watching tour was a feast for the eyes, at least through our scopes. We saw three out of the five toucan species in the area, including this Collared Aracari snacking on a banana. "
